A Crafty Meme

This I found on www.yetanothercardblog.blogspot.com, and thought that it was good fun!! I had to promise to repost the original post so here it is....

A PRESENT FOR YOU!
The first five people to comment on this post will get something made by me! My choice. For you. This offer does have some restrictions and limitations:

* I make no guarantees that you will like what I make.
* What I create will be just for you.
* It’ll be done this year. (Homemade stuff can take a little while.)
* You have no clue what it’s going to be. It may be a story. It may be poetry. I may draw or paint something. I may bake you something and mail it to you. Who knows? Not you, that’s for sure!
* I reserve the right to do something extremely strange.

The catch? The catch is that you must repost (i.e. copy the above stuff so that you then offer to make five people stuff!)

I'll leave this at the top till the end of Feb so pop by and leave a comment for a chance to receive a handmade gift.

Guitar pyramage

I made this card yesterday with the guitar twisted pyramage I bought at the Make It Show on Friday. Hope you like it. It's quite plain but then men don't go for fussy stuff really do they? May use it for hubby's colleague and friend Mark. He's a guitar collector (and also plays well too), he's the one who got my son Tim interested in guitars too. He's also the reason we all love McFly here, he is a family friend of Tom Fletcher from McFly so loves to promote them to his other friends.

Goodies bought at the Make It Show

I bought these My Minds Eye papers with glitter at the show. Beautiful. 50p each!
Look at what else I got at the Make It Show on Friday! I bought loads of stuff but didn't really spend that much - about £30. The goody bag from http://www.craftwork.cards.co.uk was fab value at £10 and look at what was in it.
There was 40 12cm square cards and envelopes, 3x A4 sheets of card in pink cream and chocolate, pink and brown dots, 3 ribbons, 3 die cut borders, 4 large frames, 14 pink and brown "chocolate theme" sentiments, 12 sheets papers with gold details, 4 sheets of die cut sentiment shapes, 2 sheets small frames, 1 sheet brown and gold coin sentiments all for £10.

I also bought a scrapbook in a tin, double sided tapes, silicone glue and then the items below.

2 cards for kids

I made these 2 cards late on Saturday night as I had to give them out on Sunday, so please excuse the bad lighting. I made the boy's card (for my 9 year old nephew) using paper from stash and the image is Rock Star by Sugar Nellie, which I received on my recent image swap, coloured using watercolour pencils.

The girls' card (for my friend Karen's daughter) is made using the lovely goody bag I bought at the Make It Show I visited with my good friend Han on Friday. (More details about that in the next post!)

Thanks for looking. xx

Hooray I've won an award

My good blogger buddy Clare (Taffy Crafty) http://www.wilky-clare.blogspot.com/ gave me this award which is really nice of her, thanks hun.

The rules for this one are:
1. Put the logo on your blog or post.
2. Nominate at least 5 blogs, which show great Attitude and/or Gratitude! Be sure to link to your nominees within your post.
3. Let them know that they have received this award by commenting on their blog.
4. Share the love and link to this post and to the person from whom you received your award.

So I'd like to award this to.....

1. Han http://www.han1173.wordpress.com/ (my good local crafting friend)

Help.....

I've used the fab debscrafts to edit my blog background as she generously gives freebies away. She also does headers too. But I can't work out how to edit the text for the header and upload it (bit of a thickie when it comes to this sort of thing!) Help would be gratefully received. Thanks.

Back in blogland

Well hi everyone, I'm back in blogland. Hooray. We had some weird computer error on Friday and hubby has spent all weekend fixing it so I'm back now. After a mental start to the day on Friday where everything seemed doomed to drive me insane or machinery to fail, including the computer, and Hannah's car which broke down in my drive, we got to the Make It Show in Farnborough and had a great time. Bought some fab goodies which, now computer is back on, I'll photograph to post tomorrow. It is Tim's birthday today so we have been doing things with him. We had his friend to stay and went bowling and to Frankie & Benny's for lunch yesterday. Then today they all went for a nice pub lunch with the in-laws while I was doing my usual stint working in a supermarket today (used all my year's holiday within 2 months so had no spare days left!) Hope you all had a good weekend.

St George's Day

http://apps.facebook.com/causes/181031?m=8ef6a43a

If you want to see St George's Day celebrated as a national day please visit the above cause on Facebook. This is something I feel strongly about.

St George's Day Challenge

I've got a two part patriotic challenge for you.

We English don't seem to celebrate St George's Day (23 April).

The Welsh celebrate St David's Day (1st March), Irish celebrate St Patrick's Day (17th March) and Scots celebrate St Andrew's Day (30th November). So why don't we? Not enough is made of this patriotic day, which I think should be a holiday or at least noted by the powers that be.

So, first part of the challenge, do something English on St George's Day! Even if it's only to wear red and white, or fly a flag from your car window. Do something. Let people know you're proud to be English and not afraid to show it. Post pictures on your blog for others to see. There will be a prize for the most original celebration, nothing rude please!! I will ask my son Tim to choose the winner.

Second part of the challenge is to make something patriotic. You can do anything you like but the red cross on white background flag must be in there somewhere. Again, post pictures on your blog. Leave me a comment on this post so I can visit your blog and have a look at your creations and celebrations. There will be a prize for the winner which I will get my daughter Emily to pick from a hat.

Winners will be picked the day after St George's Day, 24 April. I will find something suitable as 2 prizes for the winners. Enjoy.

Make It Show Farnborough FIVE this weekend

Hooray, it's make it time! Really hope I can "make it!" as it's on over my son's 15th birthday weekend. Maybe I can pop over there for an hour tomorrow. The rest of the weekend we're busy with Tim's birthday celebrations and I work on Sundays - bugger! Oh well, there's always next year, but it would be a shame to miss it as it's so close to home - about 3 miles away!

Exploding Memory Box

Sorry if this is a bit of a large post but I'm so proud of this that I got carried away with the photos. My friend Han showed me how to make these last week and this is the first one I've finished. I'm giving it to my mum as a belated birthday gift. It's got pictures of me and my hubby & kids on the middle, then surrounded by pics of me and my sisters when we were younger, then all 4 of mum's grandchildren. Han donated the purple card and papers, the rest of the bits are from stash. Hope you like it.

I'm so excited

I know it's not to do with crafting but I've just placed an order for loads of Harry Potter stuff for my dragon website. To have such a famous wizard's name associated with our products is really exciting. Can't wait to receive the items, including Harry's wand, Hermione's Time Turner, the Marauders Map, firebolt broomstick pen, Hogwarts quill etc..... For those HP fans keep your eyes peeled on www.dragons-keep.co.uk

Thank you Clare xx

The lovely Clare (Taffy Crafty) sent this beautiful notebook for my daughter Emily, along with some stickers, which I thought was very generous of her. Emily was really pleased with them. The reason she sent one was because Emily loved the one Clare made for me at Christmas and wanted to pinch it!! How kind is that? I've never met Clare in my life but we've become blogger buddies. Isn't it nice to know some people are really genuinely nice people? Restores my faith in mankind. Thanks hun....

Nan's birthday

I made this for my nan who was 94 last Sunday. Made from paper given to me by Han, thanks. Sentiment, ribbon and gems from stash.

Islamic wedding card

I'm really proud of this as I had absolutely no idea what to do when my sister asked me to make an Islamic wedding card for her friend. I looked up some ideas from an Islamic wedding card website, and also a Mehndi website (they're getting their hands hennaed today!) See pics at bottom for my inspiration.

This is what I made. It's got gold card behind it then the swirly pattern is gold. I've decoupaged the flowers and the sentiment. The picture doesn't really do it justice but I'm pleased with the result. Thanks Han for donating the bits to make it.

Fab Day

I had a fab day yesterday with my good crafting friend Han www.han1173.wordpress.com We get on so well together despite only being friends for about 18months. We had a real giggle yesterday. I went to her house, just for coffee, and ended up having lunch and staying till 3pm. It was really nice. I always enjoy going to her house, especially in her craft room - it's like a gold mine. She generously gave me loads of bits and showed me how to make an exploding box, will be posted when finished. She also gave me the bits to make an Islamic wedding card for my sister's friend. See next post for details. Thanks Han for a lovely day.

Have been registering with job agencies today!!

Stuff for kids cards

I meant to post these ages ago. I bought them at Asda over Christmas and I think they were £1 a sheet. I thought they'd be good for making kids cards.

Mojo Monday 73

This is the card I made for the Mojo Monday 73 challenge at http://www.mojomonday.blogspot.com/ using paper, ribbon, gem and flower from stash. The sentiment I made on the computer and the image, coloured in watercolour pencil, is from an image swap I did recently. (I think it was from Lea). Sorry the picture isn't that good, it was quite hard as I take photos on my back windowsill and there's shadows today as the sun is actually out so I'm not moaning! Thanks for looking.

Candy and an award

There's fab candy on offer from Joanne at http://www.craftingjoanne.blogspot.com/ for reaching almost 10,000 hits. Pop over for a chance to win.

Also, the lovely Joanne from the above blog has given me an award, thanks hun. I'm really pleased.
